Sparta Pet Shoppe and Spa

Please Familiarize Yourself With Our Policies

Scheduling: In order for your pet to have the best services at our salon, we urge clients to please make appointments ahead of time. The best time to make an appointment is when checking out, we can easily book a follow up appointment to make sure that your pet’s grooming needs are met in a timely manner to avoid health concerns such as matted fur, over grown nails, and build up around the private/sanitary areas. Your groomer will recommend a regular schedule for your pet’s future grooming appointments.

24 Hour Cancellation Policy:  If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment please do so 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment. If you “no-show” more than once, we may not be able to see your pet on high-demand days.

No-Shows: Scheduled appointments are allotted times for grooming based on our abilities to complete the job during our hours of operation.  If we have a no-show appointment, we have turned away potential customers and of course, loss of income in that time slot.  Therefore, we will ask that you pay for the appointment you missed before re-booking, for repeat offenders we ask that you pay for the appointment you missed as well as prepay for your next appointment. We do understand that there are extenuating circumstances, ie. Illness, car trouble, etc.. We will forgive if you on a case to case basis.

Close of business late pick up fees:  We respect your time and assume you respect ours. We hope you understand that like you, we have family, and plans after we leave Sparta Pet Shoppe & Spa. We do know that  “things happen” and therefore we give you a 15 minute cushion past our closing hour to pick up your pet. Anything past the 15 minute cushion we charge a $10 late fee, with an additional $10 per each 15 minutes later.

Vaccination Records:  To protect the health and well-being of all dogs and cats at Sparta Pet Shoppe and Spa, we must verify proof that your pet is completely up to date on all of his or her shots & vaccinations before your 1st appointment. We will accept a typed receipt/record from your Veterinarian at the time of your 1st visit with the name and phone number of your Veterinarian.

Required Vaccinations

Dogs: Rabies, Distemper, & Parvo. Bordatella is preferred for grooming but not necessary.

 Cats: Rabies, FVRCP, Leukemia

*Cats must have their shot & vaccinations 2 weeks prior to their appointment. Dogs must have their shot & vaccinations 24-48 hrs prior to their appointment.

Contagious:  For the safety of our other clients, please do not bring an animal that has any type of contagious skin issue, disease, fungus, or worms. If we identify any problem, we will ask that you pick up your pet immediately and pay for the portion of grooming that was completed.

Business before beauty: Please take your pet to do it’s “business” before we begin ours. Because we have an “open play” style shop, it is imperative for the cleanliness and safety of all our furry clients that they be given an opportunity to relieve themselves prior to their appointment. Thank you for your understanding.

Injuries: There is always the possibility of cuts, nicks, or burns during the grooming process. Some pets are harder to handle than others and accidents can occur. There are also times when mat burns show after they are shaved out. This is not caused by the groomer being careless, but the severity of the mats. We will always do an inspection of your pet upon arrival and in the bathtub. Your groomer will notify you of anything they find during those. Should any cuts occur during the grooming process, we will notify you and advise you on how to treat these. Injuries caused due to the condition of the dog or cats matting are NOT the responsibility of Sparta Pet Shoppe and Spa and any vet costs due to these are at the expense of the client.

Anal Gland Expression: Anal Gland Expression is performed at the request of the client.

Satisfaction: Our groomers will always work to give your pet the cut that you want, however, keep in mind that your pets comfort and health are always our number one priority. We cannot send a dog or cat home with in an unhealthy state. We will always keep notes on who groomed your pet and what was done for the groom. You are always able to request the same groomer and if they are not available, another groomer will be able to read notes on how your pet was cut. If you are unsatisfied with the groom, please let us know before you leave the shop so that the groomer can make any necessary corrections and we can take notes for the next groom. If for any reason you’d like us to tweak your pet’s haircut, call us within 48 hours of your pickup time and we will correct any issues free of charge.

Entering and Exiting the Salon, Drop Off and Pick Up: We ask that you please have all dogs on a leash when entering and exiting the salon. This is to ensure the safety of your pet and others. Cats need to be in a carrier for safe transport to and from the salon.

When returning to Sparta Pet Shoppe and Spa, please refrain from entering the Grooming Room.  Check in at the desk and your pet will be returned to you by your groomer.  Entering the Grooming Room can cause risks to pets which are being groomed.
